SCAD merges Tumblr accounts

We’re excited to have merged two SCAD Tumblr accounts that were hanging around out there.

So this admission account now will be part of http://scad.tumblr.com/.

We’re still here to answer all of your admission questions.

You can submit them here.

Thanks for following!

Anonymous asked: For the '13-'14 application supplementary materials, how do i submit a resume? Snail-mail? Digitally?

Supplementary materials such as a resume, statement of purpose essay, and letters of recommendation can either be mailed to the SCAD Admission Department or emailed directly to your admission adviser.

tetsurai asked: How important are the ACT scores for applying to SCAD?

Undergraduate admission is strongly based on GPA and either SAT or ACT scores. If your GPA is below 3.0, SAT is below 1000 (math and reading), or ACT is below 21, we recommend submitting supplementary materials such as letters of recommendation or a statement of purpose essay to enhance your application.

Anonymous asked: What I don't understand is how my portfolio will help or encourage administration to accept me as a freshman if it doesn't have to be turned in along with the application. I already applied but I still have to work on my portfolio and I'm worried that I won't get it in soon enough to help SCAD make a decision on me.

As an undergraduate applicant, your portfolio will only be reviewed for artistic scholarships. Admission will be determined by your academic background (GPA and SAT or ACT scores), and you can enhance your application by submitting supplementary materials like letters of recommendation and a statement of purpose essay.

Anonymous asked: Once accepted, how can I set up housing? I know I pay the fee and then what comes next? Can I choose a dorm? How long does the process typically take?

After being accepted, you will first need to pay your enrollment fee, which gives you access to MySCAD and your SCAD student email, and a housing deposit if you plan to live on campus. You will have a housing questionnaire available in MySCAD where you can indicate your housing preference and answer a series of questions to help our housing staff pair you with a similar roommate. You also have the option of requesting a specific roommate (make sure they also request you on their form.) If you have any questions about accessing or completing the housing form, email or call your admission adviser.

Anonymous asked: Hello, I have a friend coming in as a freshman for winter 2013, I'm currently a sophomore and I was wondering if I could request her as a roommate for fall 2013 even if shes a quarter behind?

Freshmen and returning/transfer students have separate residence halls in Savannah, but if you’d like to ask about an exception, you can email Residence Life at reslife@scad.edu.
